The Problem

Everyone's Getting Squeezed

DoorDash owns 67% of the $430B market. Their restaurants pay 15-30% commission—before hidden fees.

Restaurants Pay 15-30%

DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub take 15-30% commission. For businesses running on 5-10% margins, this is unsustainable. A $50 order costs them $7.50-$15 in fees.

Drivers Earn $2-3 Base

DoorDash pays drivers $2-3 base per delivery and hides tip information. Drivers burn gas gambling on whether customers tipped.

Customers Pay $8-15+ in Fees

A typical DoorDash order includes delivery fee, service fee (10-15%), and small order fee. That's $8-15+ before tip. Fees are the #2 customer complaint.

How It Works

Plugs Into What You Already Use

We're not a marketplace. We don't replace Toast or Square. We plug into them. Restaurants keep using their existing online ordering—we just handle delivery.

1

Customer Orders via Toast

Customer places order through restaurant's website/Toast system (same as always). At checkout, selects "Swerved Delivery" option. $5 fee added to bill.

2

Toast Sends Order to Swerved

Via webhook, Toast automatically notifies Swerved of the delivery order. Includes items, customer address, delivery fee, and tip amount.

3

Swerved Dispatches Driver

Our system finds the nearest available driver and sends them an offer: $4 base + tip amount + distance. Driver sees everything upfront.

4

Driver Picks Up & Delivers

Driver heads to restaurant, picks up food, and delivers to customer. Status updates flow back through Toast for customer visibility.

5

Everyone Gets Paid

Driver receives $4 + tips (daily/weekly payout). Restaurant is invoiced $2 per delivery. Swerved nets $3. Simple.

Platform

What We're Building

Driver App

Restaurant Dashboard

Next.js web app. Live delivery tracking, delivery history, billing/invoices, Toast connection management.

Toast Integration

Partner API webhooks receive orders, OAuth for restaurant connection, status updates flow back to Toast.

Backend

Node.js + Express API. Supabase for database + realtime + auth. Dispatch algorithm finds nearest drivers.

Payments

Stripe Connect for driver payouts. Stripe Invoicing for restaurant billing. No customer payment handling.

Timeline

6-8 week MVP build. Toast integration first, then driver app, then restaurant dashboard. Ship fast, iterate.
